Go ahead and leave comments about the new template. I'm now using Blogger's innate comments system, since Haloscan doesn't want to display comment links for me.
One thing I don't really like is that fact that the posts are so much narrower, it makes every post seem so much longer to read, but I guess it's easier on the eyes. Besides, not everyone is using 1280*1024 resolution.
I'm not sure if I follow what you're saying. When I have 1280*1024, the effective blogging area is only about half the width, and the posts are of course about two thirds of that space. On 1024*768, there's almost no wasted space.
Well regardless, I think it looks a bit easier on the eyes.
Since I am using 1280x1024, the effective blogging area is now only about 1/2 my screen. Think of all the poor people using laptops at 1920x1200. What are they going to do?
Ah, I see what you mean... I just meant that the text is no shorter in the number of lines. Ie, your 2nd last post, the first line begins with "I think" and ends with "Since noon," which would (should) be the same length on all computers.
Yeah but in the old layout, the whole first paragraph would probably fit on three or four lines on my computer. Either way, I think this is an improvement.

Yes, but you have a fixed width, so it's going to technically be the same number of lines of text.
