Bit by the jealousy bug

Little bit of "jealous Kevin" coming out tonight...overall nothing to be too concerned about.

Finished my assignment. I think I might have actually overestimated it. I certainly could have done better, but I put forth a good effort.

I went bowling last night with Sonja, John, and Julie. I wasn't doing too well the first game, but Sonja absolutely destroyed us all with 166 points (5 pin). The second game, I did a little better. I got off the same rather impressive shot twice: I cleared all the pins but the one of the very left, and was able to pick up the spare by putting a spin on the ball. It looked really awesome...the ball would start heading towards the right gutter, then came back and hit the left pin dead on. In the very last frame I got two strikes, and my third shot was REALLY close to being another strike.

After that we went to John's house to play Outburst and eat ice cream. The game was ok, but I think us strategy gamers were a bit set off by it. Everyone seemed to like Sonja, and she didn't have any complaints about my friends either.

The euchre tournament went on tonight, but I was unable to compete. Some of us there were only there to balance things out so that there were full tables. I guess the important thing is that I got to play euchre. It went on a lot later than anyone expected. We were hoping to wrap it at midnight, but it went til about 2.

For that matter, it's far too late and I think I'm gonna sleep like a mo'fo tonight.

  • 5 Pin? So do they have 10 pin at all in waterloo?

  • Not that I've seen. I think there's only one bowling alley in Waterloo (though there are some in Kitchener that might have 10 pin).

  • 10 pin... bah! No finesse... you just chuck a ball down an alley... 5 pin you have to have control to play :)

  • But scores seem to be higher in 5 pin anyway. Pins are worth > 1 point each

  • Another part of skill involved... head pin is 5, adjacent are 3, and furthest out are 2... so you have to plan your shots to obtain the maximal points possible if you don't think you can get them all down.
