I'm so dreadfully lonely

Is it sad that I'm already sick of doing homework before my spring break is over? Yes. Yes it is very sad. I just gave up on my Number Theory assignment, I did a few questions but probably not enough to get 50%. Dammit, why am I staying here in the summer? i need a break.

Don't mind me, I'm just on the depressive side at the moment. I need to find a nice girl who'll always be there to cheer me up.

The house isn't getting much cleaner lately either. I was going to clean up this afternoon, but I chose sleep over it. At least I got some refreshing sleep (although I'll not be able to sleep tonight). I can already tell that tomorrow is going to be a very long day.

I'm getting a little interested in the Civilization series. I think I'll look into buying Civ 3, but I don't have the time to play it, and it's supposedly the type of game that keeps you up til 4 AM since it's so addictive.

I think in the summer I'll take on some tutoring instead of a part time job. The tutoring pays $575-$785 for what should be 3 hours a week for the term. That works out to about $15/hour, which is better than I'll be able to find at any part time job, plus the marking I can do on my own time without having to leave my house.

I need a break.

Come Baaaaaaack!

Laura and I can't seem to get on MSN at the same time. Conflicting schedules and such.

Well, I'm getting my reading days in now. I got to sit in my room today, which is actually more or less what I wanted. I've almost beaten a Link the the Past. I really want to finish RE4, but my PS2 takes three minutes to load new portions of the level. I'm willing to bet it's cause it's a pirated game. It's way too disruptive to actually play the game, and I don't know what to do about it.

I just got smoe pretty bad Chinese food. I didn't feel like grocery shopping and cooking, and besides, I'm on vacation! Didn't work out as planned, though. Lunch consisted of pretty much whatever was leftover in the fridge.

It definitely feels good to be done my midterms. I can't really guaruntee that they went very well, but they weren't depressing, so I call that a win. Funny thing...for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to snooze at 5:15 when I had a midterm at 7. I woke up at 6:40, and speed-walked to class. I was still a little late, but only by like five minutes. I've never been late for a midterm before! I'm just glad I didn't wake up any later!

Well, I guess not much has happened besides midterms. Oh, lastnight I watched Purple Rain with Hugh and Carissa (by Hugh's request). You know, the movie with Prince. It was terrible, but I suppose it was entertaining enough (and you know, Prince has some pretty catchy songs!).

Oh! I also played a game of Scrabble with Carissa, Hugh and Mat. On my first turn, I played "LIGHTENS" on a triple word for a whopping 98 points! When I picked up more tiles, I had a lot of low point tiles with a blank. I was trying to find a place to play "HURRIES" or "CURRIES", but couldn't find anything. I played one of my R's, and picked up the other blank! By my next turn, I was able to play "SCURRIES" for another 66 points. My victory was assured by then. I don't think I've ever gotten two bingos in a game before.

Well, back to sitting on MSN.

Time flies when you're busy as shit.

Ah, who am I kidding. There are other students that are way busier than I am. I try to not be one of those people who brags about how busy he or she is. I am, however, saying that I'm a better person than you because I have a terrible exam schedule, that much is certain.

Well, I bought two GBA games today! I went to Blockbuster, and they actually had a "buy one, get the second half off" sale on all of the used games. They had a very meager selection of GBA games, but luckily enough they had Minish Cap for $30 and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror for $20, so I picked them both up. I'm a little curious about what selection of games the other blockbusters in town have...I'm debating buying some mor games now while they have the sale on, or just being happy with the ones I have now. I would really like to own Fire Emblem, but I'm certain it's quite rare and would not likely be at any blockbuster.

I also went to the dollar store. I bought a deck of cards, since John took my other deck to Mexico, a VHS to tape 24 and Survivor for him, and an eyeglass case to hold my GBA games (pretty good idea, if I may say so myself). So far I have three games in the case and I can probably only fit about four (of course including the fact that I'll have a game in the GBA at any given time).

Well, I've got my assignments done. Now all I have to do is write these midterms and I'll be ready for my break. I plan on beating at least one of RE4 or Legend of Zelda, and I think I'm going to get together with Tunde as well. I don't really know what the two of us could do, I can't top skating.

I got Hugh, Andrew, and Mat to watch Firefly the other night (well, the first episode). I suppose I'm picking up some foreshadowing and stuff after watching the series. I was arguing that Firefly can be classified as steampunk, much in the same vein that Trigun is classified as such.

I also had a really good pizza. Pepperoni, bacon, ground beef, mushrooms, and extra cheese. Really good.

You'd think I'd be happy about a snow day

Looks like things aren’t getting any easier as time goes by. I still have two midterms left next week, and they are likely the two most difficult ones. I also have three assignments due on Monday. I really feel like this is the weekend starting off my break, since really, next week is in theory reading week.

School was cancelled yesterday due to bad driving conditions. It didn’t affect me class-wise, since I was going to skip CS 330 anyways, due to it merely being a case study. I did, however have plans to write my Linear Opt midterm last night, but now it’s been delayed until Tuesday next week, conflicting with my Number Theory midterm which I will write the next morning. Today’s weather is no nicer; in fact, it’s much colder than yesterday.

I more or less winged it on my CS midterm, and I think it went relatively well. I’m expecting 70-80%, depending on my guessing skills. I also wrote Group Theory today, and it would have been ok if not for one question. I read it wrong at first and proved a completely different fact, wasting about fifteen minutes on a 50 minute test. I didn’t get to double check anything, so I really hope I did it right the first time. I suppose I’m not too phased, since I’m probably going to get what I deserve for the amount of time I put into studying.

My internet has been restricted for the last week. I’ve been downloading counterstrike in chunks, keeping my weekly bandwidth below 1500MB, but then I started using winamp radio stations without thinking through the consequences. That day put my over the limit, and I’ve been over the limit almost all week. Tomorrow, about 700MB will get cleared because last Saturday is when I downloaded the last CS chunk.

I had plans to go out this weekend to treat myself to being done 4/5 midterms, but unfortunately I’m only done the three easier ones. I’m still going to go out to the mall. My big plan is to buy a new used GBA game. So far likely candidates include Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, Zelda: The Minish Cap, Fire Emblem, Riviera, Shining Soul 2, or perhaps Tactics Ogre (though this is likely very rare). I want to steer away from RPGs, since I already have FFT:A and Pokemon. I was going to buy Zelda: A Link to the Past, but I’ve been playing is on my SNES emulator. It’s one of those games that every gamer has and loves, but I’ve never played very far into it at all. Unfortunately, I’m resorting to an FAQ frequently, but some of the puzzles are just so tedious and non-intuitive.

I’ve been meaning to finish off RE4, but my PS2 refuses to load it. Perhaps if there’s a price drop on the slim PS2, I’ll buy one of those to replace this clunker, and get the flip-top lid for playing burned games. Of course, that’s paying ~$140 for a more reliable experience. Is it worth it? I don’t really know, I don’t play much PS2 to begin with, but if I find myself with a deal I can’t refuse, and at rope’s end with my current console, then we’ll see what happens.

I checked my exam schedule, and it’s pretty terrible. I have two exams in the earliest and latest time slots on both April 13th and 18th, and one in the morning of the 21st. I get two full weeks between the end of classes and my first exam. I’d much rather have another week between the last exam and the start of summer classes, so I could go home for more than a week and a half, but I guess I seem to carry a curse of having an exam on the second last day of exams. I guess I can at least relax for a week before exams start, if I have to find some silver lining.

Well, maybe I’ll sleep and then phone people to go to the mall.

Skating is not among my skillz

Why...WHY are there Germans in my living room, talknig far too loudly at 7 AM??? WHY does Christian have to laugh so GOD DAMNED LOUD???

Last night I went ice skating with Tunde, Andrew, and Mat. It took so damn long to rent skates. Plans always go sour like that...the first place I try going to never winds up being the right place to go. The skating itself was pretty crappy. I never learned how to skate to begin with, and I certainly didn't learn last night. I fell only once, and my knee is hurting this morning because of it. My feet were killing me last night as well, because I wasn't keeping my ankles straight.

The only real saving grace from last night is that it gave me and excuse to be a little more physical with Tunde...she was being "hand holdy", if I may, to help me get on the ice and stuff like that. She even brought up the subject of Valentine's Day, so I thought things were goin well, but then she gave a little story of a cute optometry student she was working with last week, so I guess things weren't going as well as I thought.

After skating, we came to my place and the four of us played Settlers of Catan. I didn't really do that well, par usual. After that, it was 12:30 and I drove Tunde home, and Mat and Andrew went home too. I even worked up the courage to ask Tunde if she wanted to go out for dinner on Valentine's day (but I didn't call it that, I called it "Tuesday" for safety), but she is working that night. The important thing is I asked.

Shit...maybe I shouldn't be posting stuff like that...I think she said she wants to read my blog. Well, whatever. I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

Yeesh, I wish I'd updated earlier this week. A week's delay makes for a really long post.

Tuesday night was a pretty big one. I wrote my Real Analysis midterm, and it went really well. I think I'm looking at a 90%, which is amazing for the little studying I did, and how much I was struggling on most of the assignments. After that, some of us decided to do laundry at 12:30 in the morning, so I didn't get to sleep until 3. Andrea helped me with my Linear Opt, and Mat helped with Number Theory.

I've been eating with Andrew and Mat a lot lately. First was when I had pizza at Andrew's house, then Friday night I made both of them chicken with alfredo pasta and salad. Yesterday morning I made pancakes, and Mat came over. Last night, Andrew made us pizza (again). I guess all the free meals are collectively Mat's birthday present.

Well, I don't think I have any prospects left for Valentine's Day. Molly and Quinn are dating, Tunde is busy, and I haven't bonded enough with Steffi. If Laura were in town, I'd bother her, but then again she's sick anyways and probably would rather rest.

I've been trying to download CounterStrike: Source, but the whole thing is ~3 GB worth of downloading, and I have a 1500 MB limit over seven days, so I've been doing it in about 20% increments every Saturday. I'm only at 60% now, but I doubt I'll even have the time to waste on it until the summer anyways.

I was thinking the other day how I wish I knew some woodworking. I was saying to Adam how it would be cool to make my own game pieces, but he suggested that wood carving is a better and cheaper hobby for that sort of thing. I think I'd also like to make my own folding table, and I told my mom when I get back in the summer (2007), I'll build her a screened-in room on the patio. Hehe, I just hope Adam and my dad will help me, cause I have no idea what the hell I'm doing, but they say immersion is the best way to learn.

This week is my midterm week. I've got on Tuesday morning, Thursday night, and Friday afternoon. After that, only one left on the next Tuesday, then a few days off. This is the last year that math only gets two days off, next year it's the full week. I'm already thinking ahead about what I should do. I think I'd like to go to Europe, but a week isn't long enough. I could do a road trip, but there's nowhere nearby that I'd want to go.

Hmmm, not even 8 yet. What will I do with the rest of my day? Ideally, I'd be studying, but let's get realistic here. All I know is that this will make for a relaxing nap later.

"That's extracurricularific!"

Also: "I come for the wuggas, but stay for the jiggy juggas."

I've got some time to post. I was gonna go make some supper, but I think Ben's in the kitchen. The kitchen's just not big enough for two people, I tell ya. On the menu tonight is pasta with tomato meat sauce. Pretty basic.

Last night, Mat and I went to FASS. It was cheaper than seeing a movie, and of course a very different experience. You could tell it was amateur theatre; some of the dancing and acting was painful to watch, but overall there were some really good actors. The plot was a bit contrived, but I guess it's sorta necessary when everyone is guarunteed a role. If I had the time, dedication, and lack of nervousness, I'd like to be in a play. I'm not sure if I could memorize a big role, but I honestly think I'm more than a half decent actor.

Today was a bit of a write off. I was up around 10 AM, but never really woke up. I tried doing some homework, but that just frustrated me. I decided to have a big nap and not get out of bed, just to spite my body. That'll show that motherfucker who's boss.

Lots of snow today. Looks like it's stopped now, but the roads are shit to drive on (I assume). There's a dead rabbit just outsid emy back door, but I guess it's covered in snow now. I hope someone gets rid of it before it starts rotting and giving me nightmares.

I got my Cowboy Bebop boxset, finally. Two episodes down, 24 to go. I'm a little disappointed to find out that the movie is not dubbed in english, so I'll have to put up with subtitles to get closure. So far I'm enjoying the series, so that's good.

I finally got to the fifth and final chapter of Resident Evil 4. I can't wait to get it over with so I can get on to another game. I suppose that's not really indicative of enjoying a game, if I can't wait to finish it, but I've got so many little children to spend time with. I'm sure I've said this, but next is likely Prince if Persia, and then I don't really know what I'll be in the mood for after that. All I know is that sooner or later I want to play F.E.A.R.. Andrew has it, and it's supposedly a wonderful game.

The Tuesday from Hell

Well, I guess I should try to get something accomplished this weekend. I have a midterm next Tuesday night, and three assignments due the next morning. Not to mention the fact that after the midterm, I'll have to get a few hands of Euchre in. Well, I'm not too concerned. Stress usually doesn't help any.

Tomorrow should be a chock full day as well. Class in the morning, then shave and a shower afterwards. Lunch, perhaps a nap, then a PM331 tutorial in the afternoon. After the tutorial, I think I'll try to stay on campus to finish some assignments. Then the mathematics society is showing Corpse Bride and Wallace and Gromit at 7 PM in the math building. I think a few other people will see it with me, but even if not, I'd love to watch Wallace and Gromit. After that, it's 11 PM and I suppose I'd have to call it a night.

I was supposed to do work all day yesterday, but that didn't pan out. I went to the mall (and got some delicious New York Fries!), slept for nearly 3 hours, played Euchre, then ate and played Scrabble and went to bed right after. I don't know how I'm going to handle studying for midterms. I'm barely getting my assignments done in time.

I'm very much looking forward to next term. I can't wait to have oodles of free time again! I'm pretty excited about playing video games, sadly enough! That, and my Board Gaming club. Oh, and having classes with Sivji, Nathalie, and Laura! Three great people I don't get to see nearly enough of. I think there are some things I'd like to have that are at home right now, like my bass guitar and my nice 5.1 surround speakers and subwoofer for my computer. I wonder if my parents are going to be driving here in June for my cousin's wedding, or flying instead. I suppose it would be nice to have my own bike here too, but I'm sure I can pick up a used one relatively cheap, then I don't have to worry about bringing it back home.

Well, I think I'm going to call home and give my mom something to do with her night.
