Another virus free scan

I've just done an hour's worth of economics without any food, or my usual quota of 10 hours of sleep. I think, and dearly hope, that I know what I'm doing. Aparently the average on the first assignment was 66%, so I guess I don't feel so bad anymore. I think, now that they corrected one of the questions, that I got 67%, putting me ahead of the average, so thumbs up to that.

Last night I caved and bought the Buffy the Vampire Slayer season one from Cash Converters, along with Strider 2 for PS. As I accumulate boxsets, my plan to phase out television is becoming more and more a reality. I don't know who at Capcom said "hey, let's release a game for the Playstation that looks like it was engineered for Genesis". In fact, I think NES wouldn't have too hard a time emulating these graphics. Oh well, that's what you should expect for buying it for $5 used.

It seems I've become everyone's worst enemy in the last week. Part of me wants to laugh, part of me wants to cry. Overall I'm just shrugging everything off and handling things the way I want to handle them. When all the dust settles, I know my friends will still be by my side. (And if not, I can always move down south and find new ones.)

Some people have told me I should talk to them when I have a problem with them. I do. No one listens.

I'll let this post mark my official near-apology to Victoria. When I say near-apology, I meant that I can't remember if I did jump to conclusions when I made that post, or if I just strung a bunch of implication-holding sentences back to back, in a fashion I so dearly like to do. At least it got her to post something, eh? Either way, I realize that you're a friend I have nothing to hold against, and I hope you don't hold anything against me either.

Anyways Vic, now that I know you read this, feel free to call me whenever you want. Everytime I call, your cell is off, and your machine picks up too soon at home. Then again, I guess I could always leave messages, eh? Is that what those things are for nowadays? Regardless, you still haven't wished me a happy birthday, and I haven't wished you a happy Victoria Day. Plus, we can watch Buffy from season one.

My patience.

Would you like to try some? Everyone else is. Trying my patience, that is, for anyone who doesn't want to try to figure out my play on words.

Whether it be fucking around with pillows, or fucking around with my computer, or just fucking around in general, I'm sick of it. People say I have a good house in which to hang out. I don't blame them, there is an awful lot to do, many places to sit, plentiful beverage sustenance, and my house usually doesn't smell rancid. But just because I invite you over doesn't mean you can stop giving a shit. This isn't a fucking carnival, I don't have maids to clean up after everyone leaves.

The funny thing is, this party resulted in seemingly much less mess and out of pocket expense than usual. The party itself was great. I got good pictures, ate good food, and got hit in the fucking ear by a ball. You can't buy respect and decent behaviour, aparently.

As usual, what I say and post was used against me. Well, if you don't like what I say in my blog then don't read it, or don't do things that cause me to say whatever I tend to say.

I'll admit that I can make generalizations very quickly, especially when it's for or against something in which I strongly believe. All I can say is I'll try to stop that from now on, but I make no promises. I try my hardest to not make any promises. I've broken too many to keep doing it.

I'd like to defend myself to Vicky's comment below, but I honestly don't think it would be appropriate like this. I'd like to talk to her in person, though, with high hopes of not becoming too defensive and abrasive. It's all the logical argumentation and debating, I tell you. I naturally become defensive whenever someone tries to say something against me.

I tabbed out the lead guitar for a song we're playing, I'm glad I figured it out so easily and accurately.

Long enough post for tonight. Now to see how many friends I have when I wake up tomorrow.

Normal Post

I realized there's some stuff I wanna get off my mind before I forget it all, even after doing a huge post just below.

I finished the first collection of Slayers. I can't believe I've watched 26 episodes in such a short period of time. The first 26 eps were great though, it's a shame that Trigun seems so bland after all the comedic stylings of Slayers.

Well, Vicky never wished me a happy birthday, but I guess I can't read into that at all. It's a rare occasion that she talks to me anyways, unless I talk to her first and she's on MSN at an opportune time. Oh well, most of my friends went out of their ways to wish me a good one.

The restaurant I wanted to go to is not yet open, but I'll go there when it does open. Instead I went to Kelsey's with my family. The club wrap was pretty lousy.

Ok, that's all.

TV Gems, #-D

I was bored, and now I've decided to scrounge up all the good shows I'm seen in my childhood, remembering them only from familiar sounding names on lists. There are plenty of shows at the TV Tome, so I'll do it in portions. Tonight, I bring you #-D. I guess I'll give each one a rating. Stars will be my dedication to the show at the time it was aired, and dollar signs will represent my willingness to buy a DVD boxset of the series, if one were to ever come out.

I love the voices he does in Beast Wars. Seeing him in the cast list is a sure sign that the show is/was produced in Canada/Vancouver. I never knew that about DBZ, but I know Beast Wars is purely Canadian.

Happy Birthday to me!

Isn't weird how we make such a big deal when the earth reaches certain points in its orbit about the sun? What's a year, really? Why is it that we're deemed to have more responsibility once the earth spins around the sun a certain number of times while we're on it? Whatever, I don't smoke, drink, or frequent stripclubs. All I need is my rated R movies and gambling.

I'd like to invite Victoria to supper tonight, but if I send an email, she'll likely get it tomorrow. And of course god forbid I have the audacity to phone her. I can not name a single time she's invited me to do anything. It's always me making the plans. Maybe I should take a hint? Whatever, I'm still inviting her to supper, although I have a vague recollection of her saying she works tonight.

I've been playing Diablo 2 and watching Slayers like a madman lately. I really like my amazon now, and she's up to grant and Adam's level, so I'll keep her. I really liked the voice that Zelgadis had in the first 13 episodes, it was so much more quiet and calm than the one he has now. Now he just sounds cocky.

Well, I just wanted to wish myself a happy birthday. Off to talk to the millions of boxes I have open right now.

Loud and smoky, as usual

I just got back from a show at the Apollo. The first band came all the way from Sweden, and the singer kinda looked like Kiprusoff. Belvedere had some good vocals. Death By Stereo, as usual, raped my ears (in a good way). Big Wig was aparently the headliner, but I didn't care much for them. I thought that Belvedere sounded a bit better, but to each their own.

Kenneth and I found out that I can no longer play competitive sports. We played tennis, and I proceeded to throw my racket to and fro out of frustration. Maybe that's why my shoulder is hurting today, I can't quite pinpoint it.

Grant and I woke up early to go golfing today, and we quit after 7 holes, partially because of the rain, and partially because it was the worst game of golf that Grant's ever played in his life. Oh well, at least he knows his next game will be better. I actually parred (sp?) a hole today, a par 3. Then, right after that, I teed off beautifully with my 3 iron. I tended to play either terribly or wonderfully on each hole.

I don't think I even want to know how many hours I've played Diablo in the last week. My eyes are bleeding from playing too much, but Grant never gets sick of it. I keep switching up characters. I've started up a Paladin (lvl 12), Sorceress (lvl 16), and an Amazon (lvl 2). Amazons are my favourite for solo or small multiplayer, but I think that if we ever get three or more people playing at once, you need the variety that the magic users have. I need meat shields to keep the damage away from me.

Grant, you piece of shit

Grant pisses me off so much sometimes. Tonight he found a way to put the word "dildo" in my MSN name, and set me online for all to see. What a fucking shithead. I think I'll slash the tires on his car. Yeah, that's a good prank. Or maybe I'll piss in his mouth when he falls asleep. A real side-splitter, that would be.

I finally 'cleaned' up my computer desk. My room and the crawlspace are still messy as hell though. At least I made enough room for my phone and answering machine, that's the important thing.

My Slayers boxset showed up the other day. Did I already mention that? *checks posts* Nope. Well, my Slayers boxset came in the mail. There are no chapter inserts in the midst of episodes though, only at the beginning of each (BEFORE the opening theme, which I must now fast-forward through each time).

Man, I think I'm gonna have to put a password on my account just because of Grant. Jeezum crow, that guy gives me an ulcer.

What to do now...perhaps play some vidya games, since no one all that interesting is online right now.

$450 later...

I bought items at Colosimo's today, for their not-so-big sale. Regardless, I think I got a good deal on some good cymbals. Along with that, I got some drum something er others, Turner says they're good. Strings, sticks, and I forgot the picks. I let Turner charge his cymbla to my Visa since he was short.

My mom told me to buy a hand drum, and I bought something that I thought was one, in a box, without even looking at it first. Turns out it wasn't one, and now I feel like a huge dork. Who buys stuff without looking at it?

I lost my drum key, so I'm gonna have to borrow Turner's or buy another one. Turner's coming over tonight anyways, so I'll probably just use his.

Being one of the first on the wired play forums is cool. It's like every comment I have could have an effect in the shaping of this place. Hopefully I'm giving them good advice, eh?

Looks like I'll be turning 20 soon. I don't know what I'll do for a party. I don't know what night I'll have it on. I don't know who's coming. I don't know much, eh?

Baldur's Gate 2 isn't as good as I was hoping. I'm sure it's better once you get past the beginning, but I've died every time I try it. Diablo 2 is so much easier to pick up and learn. Well, it's easier to teach to people who haven't played. Much less confusing, and easier to understand abilities. Plus it allows up to 8 players.

I'm either gonna clean up one of three areas, or play a game. Then Turner and I will jam at 6. But then again, no one cares what I'm going to do, right? Blogs are boring like that.

I've been posting a lot lately, eh? Oh well.

I'd like to plug this website. Wired Play is a new place opening up in Thunder Bay that offers the latest games for either online play or LAN play. Personally, I think it would be a lot cheaper and more fun to have people lug their computers over here and play on a basement LAN, but I guess paying for their services does have its advantages. Regardless, I signed up on the forums, and I'll likely go there to at least try out FFXI and other games.

There's more I'd like to talk about, but I really should go to bed now. Tomorrow maybe?

Happiness is *not* playing bingo

I can't decide if today was a great day or a terrible day. Some parts were great, others were terrible. Let's start with the great stuff, shall we?

Grant and I got our first 18 holes in today, and I did pretty well. It felt good to get out of the house. After that we went to the mall, and I bought Baldur's Gate 2, which Grant and I proceeded to suck at.

On the other hand, I spent Saturday night alone. I had a massive headache from a combination of the sun, the wind, and Grant. My nap seems to have taken care of it pretty well though. My sister and her drunk (or rather, soon to be drunk) friends didn't help at all. That confined me to my room, inducing my nap.

I finally found out how to do my online assignments for ECON, and I did the first one. Well, the year is off to a terrible start, with a 63 on my assignment. Seriously, what the f*ck is wrong with me. I have a goddam 88 average, and I almost fail a goddam econ assignment.

I had Chinese food for supper, but it wasn't all that good. Hm, looks like the negatives of the day tend to outweigh the positives. I could really use a hug right now.

I'm sure I had something else to talk about...well, I'll just make another post if it comes to me.

Almost forgot a title! *WHEW*

Eep, I gotta finish this post soon so I can put something cool in the Listening to section!

I'd just like to say that techno can be cool. I'd like to recommend the following songs to everyone:
The Prodigy - Trance U Down
The Prodigy - Wind it Up (edit)
Panjabi MC - Mundian To Bach Ke (Knight Rider theme)
Nobukazu Takemura - Lake of Winter (Christ Wagon remix)
The Black Mages - Those Who Fight Further

The last one is actually rock, but it should be included cause I say so.

I guess I don't really have anything better to say. The link at the bottom (for the Black Mages) is a collection of battle themes done in a rock style by none other than Nobuo Uematsu, who does a lot of music for just about all the final fantasy games. If they ever put out a boxset, I'll probably buy it. It really is great music.

The way I see it, entertainment really branches into four major areas: movies, television, music, and video games. Video Games make enough money to be put right up there with the other three.

Gaddang turkey meatballs smell terrible.

Well I'm gonna go play games, I think. Or watch the Bourne Identity, since it has to go back to blockbuster tonight, or rather before 10 AM tomorrow.

Unsexed once again!

I came within what must have been millimetres of scratching/breaking my sideview mirror at a drive-thru. However, since I didn't, that proves that it was pure skill that I got as close to the window as I possibly could. I got four cheeseburgers, but I justified it by buying a fruit and yogurt parfait. Ya see, it's all about balance.

I went to see Victoria do her sacred/liturgical dancing tonight, and was forced to spend $8 in the process. Actually her mom set aside a ticket for me, but I never knew about it until afterwards. Vicky's mom totally loves me. I don't know what to call her, is Mrs. Otto still fine? Ms. Otto? Maiden name? Well maybe I'll just start calling her 'mom' and scare the shit out of Vicky.

Vicky looked absolutely amazing while dancing tonight. Mind you, I'd probably say that if she had no rhythm and fell over half the time, but I mean it. It's almost like each curve on her body led to another perfect curve, and every move she made was meticulously planned. She's got a good sense of rhythm, that girl.

Van Helsing scared the shiat out of me. Lord, I hate scary movies. With a passion. It was pretty good, but I did find myself waiting for it to be over (and hence not shiat-inducing) a few times. It seems like the whole time I was thinking of what would happen if I dare put my arm around Vicky.

I could never do that though. (Note to reader: at this point I realize she may eventually read this, and I have to back it up with something to get brownie points, or otherwise have her not hurt me) I respect Vicky. I respect the fact that she doesn't want that sort of thing happening right now. It'll kill me if, when she does decide to start dating, it's anyone but me. [Heh, that's a terrible thing to say, but this blog is for saying terrible things that I need to say.] And yet, at the same time, I could never risk the friendship. The real thrill of the hunt is the chase. If I ever put a move on her and she accepted it, the known universe would collapse on itself.

But regardless of all this, I really do mean it Victoria. You looked beautiful tonight.

Obsession by Kevin Klein

When did I last post...too long ago I guess. The blog post system has a new skin, I don't care much for it. It scares me.

Well, now I'm obsessed with Baldur's Gate 2. I think I'll actually purchase it at the mall next time I'm there, whenever Grant's free. It only allows for 6 players in multiplayer, but it's still worthy of my cash, from what I see. It would be fun even if I just have two people over.

FF9 is annoying me. I'm gonna have to level up for hours on end before even thinking of going into the final area again.

I've played a bit of FFTactics again today. Fun stuff. I've started up a few challenges of using only two classes, and the abilities only in those two classes. In order of levels, I've got Monk/Archer, Geomancer/Time Mage, and Knight/White Mage (or paladins if you will). I forgot how fun Tactics is. I'm sure it will get boring once I have all the abilities though, since I'll be using the same ones for the rest of the game. That's why I'm starting up three different games. If I get bored of one, I can start up one of the other ones again. It's a great system I've got worked out.

I dropped off my kickass resume at the TBCDSB yesterday. Both Kaarlo and Chris gave me the impression that I've got this job in the bag. Kinda sucks for Turner, I guess. I hope they do hire three students, and obviously I hope he's the third one.

I'm gonna go watch Vicky dance tomorrow. That'll show her for watching me play piano. I can't wait to go golfing with Grant this weekend too, I need to get out of this house. I just hate going places alone. Plus all these great games are tempting me. Damn you evil temptress!

Huzzah for the shopkeep!

The LAN party went over real well, aside from a few people cancelling, and a few computers sucking. Jason gave us up for sex, Turner must have had a show, and Grant had to stay at the hospital with his grandmother. Adam's computer blew fat chunks, and Nathan's could have been more reliable, although it ran pretty well considering the stories he's told us about it.

I think next time I hold a LAN party, I'm going to pick some less intensive games. I think some UT2K3 would very much be in order, since we seemed to play a lot more deathmatch than onslaught. Counterstrike was pretty fun too, and if computers can't handle RS3, then it's a good game too, for non-arcade style shooting. We didn't play much warcraft, but we did play some, and it was pretty fun. We could just as easily play Diablo 2 though, that would be fun. It's a shame everyone feels they can run off by themselves and not die.

Things were going pretty well until I fragged Phil when he was about to win. He can get pretty emotional over things like that. Needless to say, I never saw it coming.

Yeah, we had a lot of fun with my camera. I'm thinking I should put up new sections under the pictures and just upload entire albums, because each one of these pictures should be admired fully.

Overall, we had five computers downstairs (although adam's could really only play warcraft and CS decently), and one upstairs. It was getting pretty cramped down here, but it was loads of fun, and I fully intend to do it all over again sometime soon, especially since Turner and Grant didn't get to partake in the fun. Hopefully if Turner gets this job with me, I can host it on a weekend.

Alright, I've rambled too much. Time to find John a birthday gift.

Why, oh why???

MAN! This is terrible! I think only Grant can comprehend how badly I want to play golf this morning. It's beautiful weather all day, it would be the first game of the summer with my bestest golfing buddy, and it would be a great start to the weekend. But here I am with a nearly broken shoulder. I was nearly screaming in pain just trying to put on my shirt this morning, so I don't think I could get off more than one shot. I can't even go through a full swinging motion.

Man, I feel terrible having to disappoint Grant like this. I hate disappointing that kid, he always gets so excited, and this is his first weekend off from work, and the first decent golf weather that I can think of.

I remember last time this happened, I couldn't even move my arm all day, but that was because I pulled something working out. I still don't even know what the reason for this could be. My best guess is drumming. It's the only strenuous activity I've done lately.

Well, time to watch some cartoons since I'm up anyways.

...

I saw a shadow too beautiful for light
And it spoke to me in my dreams

Just can't wait!

Man, I wish tomorrow was Saturday! How sad is it when someone is this excited about playing video games in his basement on a Saturday night? Pretty sad, I'm sure.

For the price of purchasing Final Fantasy 11, I can get six months of Ragnarok Online. RO was a good game, but I think there are just some things about FFXI that I'd like so much more. Graphics, classes, battles, everything. Mind you, that doesn't mean I'm going to actually go buy FFXI because of it. At about $20/month, that's $240/year, not including the first year. That's a lot to invest in one game. The trouble with MMORPGs is, you can't play them nostalgically. The monthly fees are always there, and eventually, they discontinue the servers. No servers, no game. I won't be able to play this game in ten years....mind you, by then they'll have Final Fantasy 20 out.

I just signed up for a 50 MB account on prohosting.com, and uploaded one video. I won't bother posting the link yet, until I have some videos of decent quality and size up. This one is only 2 MB, and I'd like to re-encode it at higher quality. I'm gonna have to encode all my other videos again, since they'rea ll too big.

Thank god for Friends being over. I hate that show. I'm really not a fan of any show that has a live audience. It's like the producers of the show think that the real audience is too dumb to know when the punchlines are. I deserve more respect than that. But now it's over. Good stuff, the world is at balance again. Well, maybe not until Everybody Loves Raymond is off the air as well. Sorry John, but any sitcom that has someone making over a million dollars every episode should be taken off the air.

So, what game will I defeat when I'm done FF9? Unreal is on its way to defeat, and Prince of Persia will either be beaten or ignored eventually. It's a great game in some aspects, but very repetitive and frustrating in others. Maybe that's when I'll decide to get a MMORPG...or maybe I'll try to beat -- nay, conquer -- FFX again. I've still got a save partway through. I think I'll drop the dough on FFX-2 when it suffers a price drop. I mean, I am a squaresoft fanboy. I've got to buy it eventually. Hence more reasoning to buy FFXI. Eh, I really like the battle/ability systems of FF games, but I really like medieval themes -- that is, swords and sorcery -- much more than futuristic ones, which is why I'm a little disappointed to hear that FFXII has big cities and such in it. I'm still gonna buy it, though.

I want to be a woman (revisited)

So where was I many hours ago? Ah yes.

The back story I have for my character is pretty simple. He comes from a rich household, with many brothers and sisters, but decided to see the outside world to seek adventure. He is proficient in magic, and is an all around cheery individual. I suppose it follows the archetype of Milly from Trigun quite closely. If I ever get a warrior class, I like the sounds of a 2H axe. Mages with axes are hilarious. I'd start him off as a white mage, and eventually work him up as a summoner/white mage or Dragoon/white mage. The whole summoned beast thing would fit in with the friendly character.

The thing is, the more I think about it, this character would be a lot easier to play as a female. The cheery character and happy-go-lucky attitude would seem more fitting to a female white mage. The problem is, would it be weird to role play a game as a female? Obviously I would tell anyone in my party that I'm a guy, but it would still be weird, especially if no one else roleplays with me.

Quite a bit of change tonight. I moved to more couches into my basement, and boy-oh-boy are there a lot of places to sit. I got rid of the VCR, and hooked up my surround speakers again. It doesn't do much for surround sound, but there's a lot more bass with these bigger speakers. It was kinda fun hooking it all up.

No one is online, this blows. I have to tell people that my LAN party is now on Saturday. Vicky hasn't phoned yet, and I haven't seen her online yet. I *think* she came back yesterday. I think I'll give her a call sometime soon. Bah, what's the point, her cell is always off anyways!

Well, nothing else important lately, not that I can think of. Maybe a game of Unreal, then off to bed? Nah, I'm not tired. I've stayed up until 4 AM two nights in a row now, not good. Well, enough of this post, I know Nate doesn't like long ones.

I want to be a woman

After thinking (re: obsessing) about it for a few days, FFXI is looking better and better. I even have a character in mind to role play with.

Whoops, I'm gonna go pick up Grant. Haven't seen that kid in AGES! I'll just post this anyways to remind myself of what I was gonna post about.

Shut up...it's not fruity

Man, I'd like to learn something graceful. Let's consider the options, shall we?

Ballet is too far beyond graceful, thank you very much.
Martial arts can be very graceful, but it takes a lot of discipline, and let's face it: I have as much discipline as a can of beans.
Tai Chi is graceful, but goddam it's slow. Plus too many old people who smell funny.
Ballroom dancing is awesome, but I'll never find a decent partner. Maybe if I can find someone in residence next year, I'll consider it.
Fencing is....kinda posh. I mean, this isn't Harvard. It could be cool though, but I can't show it off unless I go out and buy a foil and the equipment.

See, the thing is, I don't handle competition well at all. Let my broken squash racket be a lesson to me. Therefore fencing isn't a good choice for me, and don't most martial arts classes have sparring or something? There's not competition in dancing or Tai Chi, eh?

Well, time will tell. I'll probably wind up attending the dance lessons, either with the social club or the actual PAC run lessons. The hard part is finding another dancer...well, one that's good, but not better than me...we all know how I deal with losing. ;)

Back by popular demand

Last night, I stayed up til *almost* 4 AM. It's a rare occasion that I make it that long, due to exhaustion or common sense. It's really amazing how long you can talk to someone about nothing.

Nathan and I were discussing what an awesome game would be. I guess the topic strayed to MMORPGs, but the game I would love to play would be multiplayer, on a console or LAN. Well, I suppose that I would actually love for it to be a MMORPG, except for the monthly fees. The main thing is, I want to play with my friends, and we're all too cheap, and could never decide on just one game.

My game would be a cross between an RPG and an action game, but not just an action RPG. Not solely menu based, and not just a hack an slash game. a cross between them, sorta like a Diablo platform...jeez, now that I think about it, it's just a MMORPG fighting style :S

One thing I would love to see changed is the actual role of role playing. In console RPG's, players often have to follow a story, and wind up relating to the main character. The player should actually be the main character, not just relate to them. For just about every conversation in the game, you should have the choice of three or four different responses that actually mould the conversation, and the entire plot of the game. You shouldn't do a quest you don't want to do. That would be cool.

Your friends should be able to join in your quest when they're over. You shouldn't have to start a new game whenever a friend is over. Each person should have their own character saved for future use and development. You know, the more I think about it, the more I feel games with monthly fees might be worth it...

After saying all of this, I'd like to try Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles for Gamecube. It seems to have a lot of these features, but for multiplayer play, each person needs a gameboy advance to play. That gets expensive, especially if no one actually *wants* a GBA.

Well...perhaps I'll mull over the thought of purchasing Final Fantasy XI. In terms of out of pocket expenses, and the social cost I'm sure it would have, maybe I'll wait it out a bit longer.

Another long, but unrelated post follows.
